RULES AND REGULATIONS SPECIFIC TO VOLUNTEERS
Eligibility Requirements:
Eligible members must have a high
school diploma, GED, or must be presently enrolled in high school or a GED
class. If an individual drops out of high school or a GED class, then they no
longer eligible for membership.
If enrolled in high school, the volunteer member must maintain a passing grade in all subjects. The training officer may call the high school at anytime to ascertain the standing of the member.
To be eligible for membership, the minimum age is eighteen.
New applicants must live inside Guil-Rand Fire district or have approval from the Fire Chief or his designee if they are located just outside the fire district.
Duty
and Training Requirements:
All volunteer personnel are
required to train a minimum of (36) thirty-six hours per calendar year. In
addition, the department requires additional training hours for volunteers that
have achieved rank above Firefighter 1.
Volunteer personnel whom are employed as career firefighter with other departments are required to train a minimum of (18) eighteen hours per calendar year with Guil-Rand Fire Dept.
Volunteer members are required to be on-duty minimum 96 hours per calendar year. Volunteer members, who are employed as firefighters at other departments, are required to be on-duty for 48 hours per calendar year.
A volunteer can schedule more than the required 96 or 48 hours of duty annually if he/she desires. This is encouraged and appreciated.
All new members shall enroll in a recruit-training program as it becomes available and scheduled by the fire department. As a minimum, the recruit-training program will meet the standards of NFPA 1403.
